The term "hypernutritious food" is meant to define conventional food with naturally exceptional or enhanced nutritional value.  The definition includes foods supplemented with vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other traditional nutrients that are added to enhance the nutritional profile of the food.  Hypernutritious foods, in a broader sense, include other food components which have been demonstrated to improve healthy funcitons of the body, serve to protect against disease or enhance performance of the individual.
