Product Description

Integrated pest management (IPM) is an ecosystem-based strategy that focuses on the long-term prevention of pests or their damage. Pests include fungi and other pathogens, insects, mites, vertebrates, and weeds that damage citrus. IPM combines techniques such as biological control, habitat modification, changes in cultural practices, and use of pest-resistant rootstock cultivars. Pesticides are applied only when monitoring indicates they are needed according to established guidelines, and applications are made with the goal of controlling only the target pest organism. Pesticides are selected and applied in ways that minimize risks to human health, beneficial and nontarget organisms, and the environment.

Integrated Pest Management for Citrus, 3E, will help growers and pest control professionals to apply the principles of IPM to citrus production. This book was written for California citrus production, however, the pest control principles and methods will be similar for citrus throughout the United States.
