Product Description

The number of organic farmers and the acreage devoted to organic production have increased tremendously. From 1992 to 2003, California's organic vegetable acreage quadrupled to nearly 60,000 acres, generating 2 percent of the total cash income from vegetable production for the entire state. In 2000, The University of California produced a series of 7 short publications on organic vegetable production for California growers. Organic Vegetable Production Manual incorporates updates to the previous publication series and provides detailed information on production issues, economics, weed and disease management, the conversion-to-organic process, and organic certification and registration in California. This new publication (2011) also addresses the changing needs of organic growers, the implementation in 2002 of national organic standards, and the availability of new information.

1. Organic certification & registration in California,

2. Business & marketing plans for organic operations: an overview,

3. Economic performance of organic vegetables: the case of leaf lettuce on the central coast,
